Vampires & Zuberi
Lares (Roman for Protector of the Home): leader of a small group of vampires in the city of Chicago, he is at least 200 years old. He was born a vampire which is all he knows. He founded his lover later to be his wife, Leda in the 90’s. Together the two of them found and created a group of fellow vamps to call family. Lares at first didn’t have a purpose in his life and would just go around bite and sucking the blood out of any and everybody that came his way or made the unfortunate mistake of walking down the dark alley ways. However, as time went on he realized that the human society has a lot of “bad seeds” and although he is the furthest thing from a law expert he knew something had to be done about the atrocities that occurred. With that in mind, he and his family sought out to rid Chicago of as many criminal as possible.
Leda (Greek for Lady) - Lares’ wife they met in the 90’s, specifically ’95, she was on her way home from a night of partying when she was walking alone. She felt as if someone was watching her and she quick begin to run when Lares popped up in front of her! She of course fainted in shock and disbelief. When she came to he was already feasting upon her neck, she reached for something to hit him with but was too weak, however it was a glare in her eyes that made Lares stop just in time for her to transform into a vampire. She tried to fight the change but couldn’t and before she knew it she was already a vampire, hurt, confused, and angry with Lares she didn’t know how to accept the fact that she is now a queen of the damned and no longer has a normal life in the world of the living.
Adonis – Adonis (Greek for Handsome), is an up and coming model on his way to the top. He was leaving a photo studio one night after a late session when he ran into Leda, crying as she appeared to be “hurt” he goes over to her and asks to help her out. He picks her up and they begin walking when she stops in front of an alley way and leans back on a wall saying she’s okay and that there’s nothing wrong, Adonis decides to call the ambulance and wait with her. While waiting he tries to make small talk as she begins to sing a hypnotizing beautiful melody to him and she smiles as he lays his head on her shoulder she then bites him while covering his mouth with her right hand! He tries to fight but fails and thus is turned in Adonis, The Vampire. With his good looks, great voice and sex appeal he uses the power of strength and charm to lore his victims into their pitfall. Though he lives the life of a vampire he still has hopes of becoming a famous model, especially since he has eternal youth.
Latona (Roman for Unknown) – Latona is Lares’ younger sister she is 150 years old. She is the true alpha of the group unlike and much stronger than Lares and confident in being a vampire; she despises humans and their emotions and only cares to kill them. Her only wish is that she was at the level and status of her brother and sister in-law, though at times she has had thoughts of killing them both especially Lares, she does not act on them, for she’d rather him being caught by Jade and killed. She is funny in a dark humorous kind of way, sarcastic, mean, tough, strong willed, sensual, playful but deadly. She has her eyes set on Adonis but knows that he’ll never truly love her, Paulos has a crush on her and so she plays with him to spare his feelings. She has an obsession of her brother Lares almost to the point where it seems insectrial, however she could never see herself with her brother in that way.
Paulos – Paulos (Latin for Small) is an up and coming Lawyer from the West side of Chicago, he has just finished studying for the bar exam and was leaving the library and on his way home. He was walking by himself when Leda was walking behind him coming out of nowhere being the player he is, Paulos decided to put his “game” on her and see if he could her take home tonight. She played along with him and as they kept walking to his block, before the night was over she flipped the script and took control of the situation, Leda put him up against the wall massaging him using her hands to massage his back and neck when unbeknownst to him she was preparing his neck to for the both of them, she bit him and turned him into a vampire. Now a vampire, he took advantage of it, took his bar exam at night and is now a certified bonafide Lawyer with one hell of a bite!
Zuberi (Zubi or Beri, for short) – A 350 year old, demisexual, sapiosexual, African-American voodoo priest, whose crowned himself the Voodoo King of Chicago, he keeps his skin/body looking young and fresh with a special kind of facial make-up, this is a mixture of wolf and hunters blood. His diet consist of mixed foods, he is a vegetarian, who still eats meat and other fatty foods due to his high metabolism. He can be your best friend/ally or worst enemy if crossed, he and his small group of mythical friends reside in Chicago, and have embark on a variety of paranormal crime bases, due to the mass amount of energy that’s been illuminating from this town. He also has the following abilities: telepathy, telekinesis, weapon mastery, probability manipulation, and expert at hand-to-hand combat. Including various spells and voodoo powers. He’s funny, laid back, wise, creative, crazy, colorful, and sarcastic, hip, and has an undertone of hatred for whites when giving history lesson/wise cracks. He’s an owner of a comic book/book store in Hyde Park. On the side he performs spells and rituals to help those who seek him out, of course he charges depending on various reasons. He visits the spirit world from time to time seeking out those who call to be set free into the proper spiritual destinations. Some historian have said that he is a distant relative to the late, great, marvelous New Orleans voodoo queen, MARIE LAVEAU.
